Back again for his third year at AgoraFest, award winning Brewmaster Mark Johnson’s start to finish all-grain brewing demonstration is one of the most educational, and delicious, AgoraFest sessions. Two years ago Mark brewed a potent barleywine that was aged for a year and then brought back to AgoraFest to taste the final result. I can’t remember what Mark brewed last year but I know it was all gone by the time I came by to taste it. Mark plans on brewing a Russian Imperial Stout this year – please keep a close eye on him for reactionary bourgeois tendencies. He also will have on hand a selection of home brews to sample including a Baltic Porter, a Belgian Saison, and a traditional British Bitter – thankfully all good proletariat brews.
(This demonstration takes a total of 3-4 hours, but there are natural breaks so you can come and go and still experience the entire process. Mark will announce during the demo approximately when the various steps will take place.)
Mark is a BJCP Certified beer judge and has been a home brewer for over 12 years. He has won Best of Show at the Minnesota State Fair Homebrew competition, and he is known for his fun and educational talks on the art of brewing, as well as his excellent beer!
